Learn PB — Practical Basketball Training Mode

Use the in-game drill suite to build muscle memory before park, Blacktop, or Round2NYC queues during ST3.

Learn PB Training Mode Guide

Learn PB is Practical Basketball’s in-game training suite — the structured practice area players reach from the main menu when they want reps without live defenders stealing every sloppy crossover. During Stress Test 3 (ST3) and other early-access windows, Learn PB is the fastest way to convert Discord control sheets into muscle memory before you wager reputation in Park or Blacktop. This guide maps the Learn PB flow, recommended drill order, how it differs from Public Gym, and what to practice when ST3 ends on August 12, 2026 (Pacific Time) and servers flip to BE BACK SOON downtime.

Pair this page with Getting Started for first-session etiquette and PC Controls as your bind reference while you drill.

Where Learn PB lives in the menu

After you join a live Practical Basketball instance:

  1. Spawn into the hub (Plaza or main navigation UI depending on build)
  2. Open the mode selector from the main menu
  3. Choose Learn PB (sometimes grouped near Tutorial Mode in ST3 builds)
  4. Pick a drill category — shooting, dribbling, passing, or finishing

Learn PB is not the Build Creator. Stats, badges, takeovers, and anomalies still live in creator menus — see How to Create a Build. Learn PB teaches inputs, not attribute planning.

If Roblox shows no running experiences, Learn PB is offline with everything else. Use wiki downtime pages — Maintenance Status and Practice Drills — until Discord announces reopen.

Learn PB vs Public Gym vs Tutorial Mode

Community onboarding threads for ST3 recommend Tutorial Mode or Learn PB → Public Gym → Park. Skipping straight to Park is the fastest route to turnover clips and rage-quits.

Follow this sequence on your first ST3 day — about 25–40 minutes total:

1. Shooting fundamentals (8–10 minutes)

  • Hold E through release peak on stationary shots
  • Tap E for pump fakes without committing the shot
  • Release timing feedback — connect feel to How to Green

Goal: ten consecutive open makes before you add dribble gathers.

2. Dribble hand switches and hesi (8–10 minutes)

Learn PB dribbling drills typically cover:

  • Z / C hand switches
  • X step-back (single and double tap)
  • V spin or juke chains
  • H quick cross-hand switch

Stop when one combo feels repeatable — not when you can spam ten moves into a steal. Deep combos live on How to Dribble.

3. Passing targets (5 minutes)

  • 1–4 chest passes to numbered teammates
  • Double-tap bounce passes
  • Shift + 1–4 chest pass modifier

Passing drills prevent the bad habit of dribbling until a double-team arrives. Read How to Pass before Park.

4. Finishing intro (5–8 minutes)

If your build allows:

  • Hold E layup lines while driving
  • Shift + Space driving dunk attempts
  • Standing dunk with Space when vertical permits

Finishing depth: How to Dunk and How to Alley-Oop.

5. Cool-down: one full possession simulation

Imaginary defender: one hesi, one drive, one kick-out pass or pull-up. If the chain breaks, repeat step 2 for five minutes.

Returning to Learn PB after patches

ST3 patches can change binds, shot windows, or drill labels overnight. After every reopen listed on Changelog:

  1. Re-run five minutes of shooting in Learn PB before trusting last week’s timing
  2. Cross-check Stress Test Notes for control deltas
  3. Compare console binds on Console Controls if you play on gamepad

Learn PB does not replace reading Discord pins — it confirms what your hands feel after a patch.

Learn PB during ST3 final days (August 11–12, 2026)

Community coverage marks August 12, 2026 PT as the planned end of the current ST3 window. If servers are still live on August 11, treat Learn PB as your last low-pressure lab before the next BE BACK SOON cycle:

When the window closes, offline prep beats refresh spam — Build Helper and Practice Drills keep habits alive.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers players ask before every park session.

What is Learn PB in Practical Basketball?

Learn PB is the in-game training mode with structured drills for shooting, dribbling, passing, and finishing. Access it from the main menu during live ST3 servers to practice before Park or Blacktop.

Should I use Learn PB or Public Gym first?

New accounts should start with Learn PB or Tutorial Mode for guided reps, then move to Public Gym for free-form practice with other players before competitive Park queues.

Does Learn PB work when ST3 servers are offline?

No. When Roblox shows no running experiences or BE BACK SOON, Learn PB is unavailable. Use wiki Practice Drills and control guides offline until Discord announces reopen.

How long should I train in Learn PB before Park?

About 25–40 minutes covering shooting, dribbling, passing, and one finishing line is a solid first-session minimum. Return for five-minute shooting refreshers after each patch.

Is Learn PB the same as the Build Creator?

No. Learn PB drills inputs and timing. Build Creator handles height, attributes, badges, takeovers, and anomalies — see How to Create a Build for planning.
